Living through sweltering heat in a city like Waltham can be difficult and push some residents to complain about their dissatisfaction with their government.

Residents in other Massachusetts communities don’t have these options and have to travel some distance to find a good place to cool off. other communities have them, but must pay an admission fee. For example, Newton residents can visit the Gath pool or Crystal Lake, but must pay to get in. Charlton (a Central Massachusetts community I used to cover as a newspaper reporter) does not have a readily-accesible swimming area. Residents have to visit it's neighbor, Southbridge, to use the state-owned pool.
