WALTHAM, MA — A project to replace the sewer on Lexington and School streets that began last June, is set to wrap soon with work to repair sidewalks and manhole covers after nearly two years of work in the area.

In 2018, work began to repair water lines in the area. The project has impacted traffic in the area since then. The first part of the project was scheduled to end last fall. The crews came back this spring to work on School Street to replace the water main from Exchange Street to Lexington Street. This project was part of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan to update its water and sewer systems plan to improve the City’s water and sewer infrastructure.

This week crew are working on sidewalk repairs. Sidewalk work will continue June 15 through June 19 on Mill, School and Lexington streets and adjustment to manhole covers. Overlay work will begin in the area on June 19 and last until June 22. Then crews will move on to installing chimney liners and finish manhole rehabilitation before they line stripe.
