WALTHAM, MA — The Mayor's free annual Doo Wop Concert is here again. Head out to the Waltham Common at 6 p.m. (note the time is a little later this year than previous years).

As in years past it will be an evening of music and dancing. Food vendors will be set up along the Common and the music will be plentiful.

Martha Reeves and the Vandellas will be the main act. That's right, the motown group that had a nine-year run on the charts in the 60s and 70s is making a stop in Waltham before a show on Tuesday in the Netherlands. They're the Motown group of friends responsible for hits like "Come and Get These Memories," "Heat Wave," "Quicksand," "Nowhere to Run," "Jimmy Mack," "Bless You" and of course "Dancing in the Street," which became their signature tune.

The band was formed in 1973 by three Waltham High School friends, Dom Viscione, Mike Joyal and Fran Doorakian and has since expanded to the current six man group.
