Middlesex DA Comments on Waltham Police Chief Verdict

A day after Waltham Police Chief Thomas LaCroix was convicted of assaulting his wife, Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan issued a statement.

“This case shows that tragically, anyone can be the victim of domestic violence, even at the hands of someone who has worked to protect and serve the public,” Ryan said.  “We urge anyone who is the victim of domestic violence to seek help, support, and utilize all of the resources available to them. No one should ever feel threatened in their home or be afraid to confront their abuser because he or she is in a powerful position.”

LaCroix is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10 at Concord District Court. Mayor Jeannette McCarthy said she plans to place LaCroix on administrative leave without pay. Prior to the conviction, LaCroix had been on administrative leave with pay. He remains free on supervised release.
