Mighty Squirrel's Oktoberfest Run Takes Over Waltham This Weekend

The race is in partnership with RACE Cancer and will be followed with live music, an outdoor Biergarten and food trucks in Waltham.

WALTHAM, MA — The pumpkins are returning, maybe you've seen one of those massive skeletons and, at least for the early birds, a fall crisp is creeping into the air.

Autumn is returning, and Mighty Squirrel Brewing is kicking off the season with its Oktoberfest 5K and 5-mile race this Saturday.

The race begins at 10 a.m. and is in partnership with RACE Cancer, a local nonprofit that produces running events to race money for cancer and community nonprofits.

"Traffic will be impacted heaviest in the Beaver St/Waverley Oaks area. As well as Waverley Oaks between Beaver St. and Trapelo Rd," police said.

It's anticipated that 400 runners will participate in the race, but that one-hour period isn't the end of the day.

Mighty Squirrel is set to host a post-race awards ceremony featuring outdoor live music, food truck specials, pretzels and Oktoberfest beers. All runners and volunteers over 21 get two beers and a free hat.
