WALTHAM, MA — Power for the more than 1,100 homes and businesses in Waltham's South Side neighborhood returned just after noon.

A tree limb that fell onto Eversource equipment on Moody Street early Wednesday caused the outage that lasted several hours, according to company spokesperson Reid Lamberty.

The outage comes the same day as a driver of a minivan crashed into several utility poles early on River Street about a mile and a half away, sending a woman to the hospital.

"It is unrelated to the accident this morning," said Eversource's Reid Lamberty.

Several businesses on Moody Street said the outage didn't seem to affect them much, Shoppers Cafe lost power for a bit, but power returned for them a little after 10 a.m. MOLTI (formerly Moody's Deli) had power the entire morning.

But at Heidi's Restaurant at 723 Moody St., where power only went out for a few minutes, the phone line stopped working and that's what hurt them.

"It messed up a good three hours of our day," said Heidi's owner Nazar Ohanessian.

The diner specializes in breakfast and right now relies on take-out, the bulk of which people order by phone.

"The electricity went out for about a half hour," said Ohanessian. "I think we were on the lucky side with that, because ours came on faster than most people. But we lost our phone, which at this time people are already not going out and most of our business is takeout, and people weren't able to call for at least three hours. And it happened pretty early."
