New Sidewalks for Moody Street Receive Preliminary Approval
The new walkways will be similar to the type on another part of Moody Street.

The Waltham City Council, during its Aug. 5 meeting, gave preliminary approval for $1.47 million for new sidewalks on Moody Street from Charles Street to the Newton line, according to Assistant City Clerk Tom Curtin.
Since the funding is a loan, the council must approve the loan order twice more at future meetings, Curtin said.
The sidewalks will replace the current dilapidated walkways which are dotted with overgrown trees. The new sidewalks will be made of concrete with brick accent strips, according to City Councilor Robert Logan, similar to the type in front of the old South Middle School on Moody Street.

Mayor Jeannette McCarthy said the work will begin soon after the final approval is given.
"Once the funding is finalized by the City Council, a meeting with the Downtown Partnership will occur regarding the location of the trees on Moody, and then the bid packages will be finalized and sent out," she said in an email.
