This week, a Somerville restaurant received big honors, being named as one of America's best new restaurants, joining a list of other New England restaurants to receive the honor across publications recently.

Lehrhaus restaurant in Somerville was named among the 50 best new eateries in America this year by the men's fashion, style and culture magazine Esquire.

Esquire said of Lehrhaus:

"I've been to thousands of restaurants in the past couple of years, but I hadn't truly felt at home until I walked into Lehrhaus, a Jewish tavern and house of learning.

In Waltham, a longtime group focused on fighting food insecurity is now opening a community market space for those in need.

On "Giving Tuesday", they received a big boost from the community — and a generous group that matched donations — to build out the new space.
