VIDEO: New Waltham Business Offers Unique African Crafts
Anthony Sankale, of Malden, recently opened a new business on Crescent Street in Waltham.
Anthony Sankale can't help but smile when he talks about his homeland, Kenya. To share his passion, the Malden resident recently opened Mizizi Design on Crescent Street in Waltham out of which he sells hand-made crafts from from his Maasai tribe.
"I want this business to grow," Sankale said in a recent interview with Waltham Patch at his store.

The store is the latest chapter in Sankale's journey to America. Sankale immigrated to the United States in 2005 after he was chosen to receive citizenship through the federal government's immigration lottery, he said. Upon arriving, Sankale worked as a security guard in Boston as well as several HVAC technician jobs. Wanting to share his passion for his tribe, Sankale chose Waltham in which to open his store. The store opened on Jan. 18.
"The response was great," he said, nothing Waltham's diversity made it a perfect place for the store. "I want this business to grow."
