Save the dates for the upcoming candidates nights for Waltham city councilor, school committee members and mayor.

(Waltham City Hall)

WALTHAM, MA — There's an election in less than a month, in which Waltham voters will head to the polls Nov. 5 and make some decisions to settle a few contested races - for city council and for school committee.

Voters will also choose whether Mayor Jeannette McCarthy will keep her role as mayor or if Councilor Diane LeBlanc will take over.

If you want to be a part of these decisions ,which have in the past come down to a handful of votes, and haven't registered to vote in Waltham, you have until Oct. 16 to do so.

Every two years the entire 15-member council is up for reelection. This year, three school committee members will be on the ballot as well. To help understand just who is on the ballot and what they are standing for there are several more events happening throughout the month.

The League of Women Voters of Waltham is hosting a candidate night next Friday, Oct 18 for contested Ward Councilor races. Then on Wednesday Oct. 23, the school committee will take center stage, followed by Thursday's night with at-large candidates. A night with the mayoral candidates will be Tuesday Oct. 29.
