WALTHAM, MA — Waltham will have several contested races in this fall's election, including one for mayor. Waltham Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Waltham City Councilor Diane LeBlanc is challenging incumbent mayor Jeannette McCarthy. If McCarthy wins she will surpass former Mayor Arthur Clark in terms of years served in the position. After the preliminary election pulled the third candidate from the race, LeBlanc and McCarthy are set to go toe-to-toe in the general election on Nov. 5.

LeBlanc got her bachelors of science and masters of public administration at Northeastern University. She then went on to complete a special executive program at the MIT Sloan School of Management. For the past 37 years she's worked for the National Archieves and Records Administration.
