Waltham Fire Department To Mark 19th Anniversary Of 9/11

The Waltham fire department will hold a moment of silence Friday to mark the nineteenth anniversary of the attacks.

WALTHAM, MA ― As police and fire departments across the country remember those thousands who died as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, so, too, the Commonwealth is remembering those Massachusetts residents who lost their lives as a result.

Waltham firefighters are set to mark the 19th anniversary of the attacks by holding a moment of silence ceremony remember those lost around 9:45 a.m. Friday at the Central Fire Station, according to Waltham Fire Chief Tom McInnis.

John Joseph Wenckus, 46, was born in Waltham and had been living in California but was on American Flight 11 when it hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, according to his obituary.

James Edward Hayden, 47, lived in Westford but worked in Waltham. He was a passenger on United Flight 175, which took off from Boston and hit the South Tower of the World Trader Center. He was the chief financial officer of Netegrity in Waltham. Hayden was survived by his wife, Gail, and their two children his obituary said.
