Waltham Man Allegedly Assaulted Sister, Then Got Shot

The 45-year-old man faces charges in New Hampshire.

A Waltham man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking his sister, but his troubles did not stop there. He also got shot in the incident.

Joseph Ciraso, 45 of Waltham, was charged with assault and treated for non-life threatening injuries during the incident in Campton, N.H., according to a report in the New Hampshire Union-Leader. The incident occured on the evening of June 24 in the community about a dozen miles north of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Police responded to a call about an assault and learned Ciraso to into an altercation with his sister, who lives in Campton, according to the report. After the scuffle, his sister's husband allegedly fired a pistol at Ciraso, injuring him, the Union-Leader reported.

Ciraso left the area, but was stopped a few miles away in Holderness, N.H., according to the report. He was taken to hospital in Plymouth, N.H. and treated for his injuries.
