Waltham Teen Accused Of Stabbing 2 Brandeis Grad Students

Waltham police said the 16-year-old was found covered in blood attempting to break into a car less than a mile away after the stabbing.

WALTHAM, MA — A 16-year-old Waltham resident suspected of stabbing two Brandeis grad students was arrested early Monday morning after someone reported the teen was covered in blood trying to break into a car. Officers were called to Wheelock Road late Sunday night for a report of a stabbing across from Stanley Elementary School. When they arrived, they found two women who were stabbed several times.

Thewomen, whgo are graduate students, were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive, according to police.

Police later received a call about someone "covered in blood" breaking into a car on Highland Street. Police arrested the teen just after 5 a.m.

The stabbing happened near Brandeis University. Just after 2 a.m., campus security released an alert warning students that there had been a stabbing and it was not clear if the person responsible was on campus.

Early Monday morning, Brandeis Public Safety was alerted by Waltham Police about a stabbing that occurred on Wheelock Road. The Brandeis Emergency Notification System (BENS) was activated and Brandeis Police worked to secure the campus; a suspect was later arrested by Waltham Police on a nearby street. We soon learned that the two victims in the incident were Brandeis graduate students. The two students were transported to local hospitals. Student Affairs is coordinating with the hospitals to ensure the students are supported and has reached out to their families as well.

Brandeis Public Safety is working closely with Waltham Police as they conduct their investigation. While we believe this was an isolated incident, Brandeis Pubic Safety will provide additional patrols on campus over the next several days.
