Whittemore School Gets A New Playground, Soccer Field
This playground has been long in coming.

WALTHAM, MA — There's a new playground in town. The much anticipated Whittemore Elementary School playground is officially open - with a ribbon cutting ceremony to prove it Tuesday.
The new area features a soccer field as well as a basketball court that can also be used for street hockey and the new playground features new slides, monkey bars and climbing nets.
Six companies sent bids to the city that ranged in price from a $15,900 bid from Marshall/Gary based in Wakefield to a $42,500 bid from Ray Dunetz a landscape architecture firm based in Jamaica Plain.

In the end, Arsen Hambardzumian from NESRA Engineering based in East Taunton won the bid with a $24,800 project design back in 2018.
Whittemore underwent a $25 million renovation in 2008.
