• Town receives $150,000 to help attract businesses, redevelop Main Street (theweektoday.com) — Wareham has secured $150,000 in state grants to push ahead with redeveloping Main Street, including tax incentives to fill long-vacant storefronts. Town planners are also rethinking earlier riverfront access ideas and considering new green space along Merchants Way to make downtown more inviting for residents and visitors.
   

• Michael LeRoy Collins, 71 (theweektoday.com) — Wareham is mourning the passing of longtime resident and artist Michael LeRoy Collins, 71, who died December 12 after a battle with cancer. A Wareham High graduate and creative spirit who later returned home to cook and make art on the South Coast, he leaves a close-knit family and many friends; a celebration of his life will be held later.
