4th Annual SAATh Festival 2025: South Asian Theater & Storytelling Comes to Watertown This Weekend, Nov 21-23

"Coming Together" for 3 days of multilingual theater & storytelling. All plays captioned in English. Nov 21-23 in Watertown.

If you are looking for a vibrant cultural experience this weekend that transcends borders and language, the Mosesian Center for the Arts is the place to be.

Starting this Friday, November 21st, and running through Sunday, November 23rd, the Boston-based nonprofit Off-Kendrik presents the fourth annual South Asian American Theater (SAATh) Festival.
The word Saath translates to “coming together,” a fitting theme for a three-day celebration designed to unite people of all backgrounds through the power of multilingual storytelling.

A Festival for Everyone

While the festival celebrates the South Asian diaspora, it is designed to be accessible to the entire Greater Boston community.
The event features ten creative groups from the Boston area and across the country, performing ten original productions. While the plays are performed in multiple languages—including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and English—organizers have ensured that language is no barrier.

Note for attendees: Every performance will be super-captioned in English, providing a rare opportunity for education and cultural enrichment for all audiences.

The narratives on display this weekend are as diverse as the languages spoken. Audiences can expect stories addressing politics in countries of origin, the nuances of the immigrant experience, and complex explorations of ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.

A Spotlight on Women Artists

This year, SAATh is placing a special emphasis on the contributions of women in the arts. The festivities kick off Friday night with a panel discussion regarding the unique challenges and triumphs of female creatives.
“So often we see women overlooked or forced into certain roles in society and theater,” said Pragati Bhowmick, SAATh Festival Organizer. “We will host and open an honest discussion about the challenges female artists face as well as the opportunities that are available.”
