5 Things: Wayland Poets, Town Beach Hours, Missing Coyote and More

A few things you need to know on Friday, June 28, 2013, in Wayland.

1. Is the new site treating everyone OK? We know that it will take some getting used to, but please continue to post your events and announcements and blogs and photos and comments. And if you have questions or run into issues, don't hesitate to reach out to Community Editor Bill Gilman or me, Brooklyn Lowery, your local editor.

2. The Wayland Town Beach is now open for its summer hours. Until July 31, the beach is open daily from 10 a.m.– 8 p.m. Remember that you'll need a beach tag to hit the sand.

3. Wayland is full of poets! As part of Wayland Reads Poetry, the Wayland Public Library requested submissions of original poems from Wayland residents. A collection of the submissions is now available as a PDF online or from the library. Congrats and well done to all these published poets.

4. ICYMI. The plastic coyote "scarecrow" that has lives at Mansion Beach has ... ahem ... walked off. If you know of Wile E. Coyote's whereabouts, please return him to the beach.

5. Year of Wayland Trivia. In 1754, each town in the Bay Colony appointed assessors to report on the number of slaves in their towns. Sudbury reported nine males and five females.
