New Director of Veterans Services for Wayland Announced
In the position, she will handle veterans services for Wayland as well as for Needham, Wellesley and Weston.

WAYLAND, MA - Staff Sgt. Sarada Kalpee is the new director of the West Suburban Veterans District, which includes Wayland.
In the new role, Kalpee will be responsible for the veterans services throughout Wayland, Needham, Wellesley and Weston. Her work includes outreach to veterans, assistance with filing of claims for benefits, certification of applicants’ eligibility, management of the business affairs of the District, supervision of staff and other significant duties, according to a press release.
Sarada has served in the U.S. Army Reserves since 2002 and was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013. She served 12 months as a senior mechanic. She comes to the West Suburban Veterans District after serving as a veterans’ services officers for the City of Boston.

“Sarada’s personal understanding of veterans’ needs and her growing knowledge of the services available through the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and other entities will be of tremendous value to the veterans in our communities,” according to a statement from Hans Larsen, executive director for the Town of Wellesley.
