ADULT SERVICES

Evening Book Group with Author Appearance
In Soccer Grannies, Jean Duffy tells the story of the women of rural South Africa who captivated the world with their tenacity and spirit when they started a soccer team, and how Duffy and her own team brought them to America. Great Presenters: Dr. Kim Wilson—Lessons Learned in Global Health
Kim Wilson, M.D. and M.P.H., will share best practices and stories from her work as a pediatrician with Partners in Health in East Africa and the Caribbean. She is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and a pediatrician at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she founded the Global Pediatric Fellowship. In Boston, Dr. Wilson works in primary care for an underserved community. Register. Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Virtual Author Talk: Nina Simon and Mother-Daughter Murder Night
In this lighthearted, bestselling whodunit, a high-powered businesswoman who’s recovering from cancer and her adult daughter start sleuthing when her teenage granddaughter is implicated in a murder. Debut novelist Simon has also been a NASA engineer, slam poet, game designer, museum director, and nonprofit CEO. Register. Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m.

Noon Book Group: Night Boat to Tangier by Kevin Barry
In the waiting room of the ferry terminal in the Spanish port of Algeciras, Maurice and Charlie, aging Irish drug smugglers, watch for Maurice’s estranged daughter to either arrive or leave on the Tangier boat. Their conversations excavate their shared history of violence, romance, mutual betrayals, and serial exiles. Copies available at the Library. Friday, May 10.

Music Exchange Listening Room
If it’s the second Tuesday of the month, it must be Open Mic Night at the Library! Settle into a seat in our beautiful Round Room and enjoy the lightly amplified efforts of whichever brave souls have signed up to share their music. Finishing Touches: Estate Planning
In the first of a three-part series of programs, Elder Law attorney Denise Yurkofsky covers wills, trusts, probate and other essentials of estate planning to help smooth the end-of-life transition for you and your loved ones. Cannabis and You: A Talk for Adults
Not only is cannabis legal, it also has medicinal properties. Stop stressing and come learn about CBD, THC, CBN, the different types of cannabis and their uses, and what is legal and what's not. We will also review medical vs. recreational marijuana and what’s hype and what’s real with CBD. This is a research-based, unbiased, nonaffiliated presentation. Sorry, no samples. Early Childhood Fair with Tom Knight’s Musical Puppets
Families with young children are invited to an Early Childhood Fair at Hannah Williams Park. Local preschools, the Wayland Library, Family ACCESS Community Connections, WCPA, and Park & Rec will host tables. There will be information for parents, and crafts and activities for kids. Music, Story, Fun! with Ms. Janet

Art Club for Kids
Art Club is for kids in Grades 2-5 who love to draw and paint! This club, led by Wayland parent Emily Kristofek, will meet the first Monday of each month.
