Wayland Gets State Funding For Snake Brook Dam Rehabilitation Project
The dam is 150 years old.

WAYLAND, MA — A project to transform a 150-year-old dam in Wayland got more than half a million dollars in state funding.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration granted the town $884,000 to put toward the Snake Brook Dam Rehabilitation Project, according to a news release from the town. The dam, which impounds water to form the Old Wayland Reservoir, will undergo structural modifications to comply with engineering and safety standards.
Snake Brook Dam is part of the Hamlen Woods Conservation Area, located at 80 to 90 Rice Road.

Wayland previously funded the engineering design plans after recent inspections, aimed at addressing the threat of rising water levels, according to the release. The town added that the project is ready for construction.
