Weekend Preview: Blood Drive, RiverFest, Bicycle Recycling and More

There are a number of events in Wayland this weekend, so we've put together an at-a-glance preview.

Blood Drive in Honor of Eric Chase
When/Where:
Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Wayland High School.
The Buzz:
Eric Chase was a Happy Hollow student who grew into a 2008 graduate of Wayland High School. He lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2012 and the blood drive was organized by Team Eric Chase to honor his memory. Sign up for a time to donate at TeamEricChase.com.

Riverfest: Celebrating Our Rivers
When/Where:
Friday through Sunday, June 21-23, at various locations and times. The History Paddle from the Route 20 boat dock in Wayland is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The Buzz: This annual event celebrates all things Sudbury, Concord and Assabet rivers. From history paddles to garden talks and historic tours, there's something for everyone. For a full list of events, see www.sudbury-assabet-concord.org.

Bicycle Recycle Day in Wayland
When/Where:
Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church.
The Buzz: Bicycles for children and adults all too often end up at the transfer station when they've ceased to be used by the current owner. But bicycles in good shape could find a new home with a new rider. Bring your bicycles in good working order to the Bicycle Recycle Day and give you bike a new lease on life with a new rider. There is no charge to recycle bicycles.
BONUS buzz: There is also an electronics and appliance recycling event taking place at the same time at Peace Lutheran. This is a fundraiser so there are some charges for these items. Check out the list of accepted items and associated fees.
