Of the more than 4,000 of Wellesley's voters, 2,300 cast their ballots for Ed Markey, and more than 700 selected Gomez on their ballots. This is about 26 percent of the town's over 15,000 voters.

The Town Clerk did note that there are 20 ballots which must be hand counted, but they are not expected to change the results of the primary. There were also five write-in votes from Democratic voters.
