7 Wellesley Students Named To Boston Globe All-Scholastic Teams

Two coaches also received coach of the year honors.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley capped off a successful winter season win a few accolades from the Boston Globe.

Hockey stars Erin Fleming and Jenna Harrison, swimmer Andrew Scherrer, sprinter Abby Comella, and the members of the girls’ indoor track 4x400 team were named to the paper’s All-Scholastic teams. PT Donato was named the Division 2 girls’ hockey coach of the year and John Griffith was named the Division 2 girls’ indoor track coach of the year.

Here’s how the players and coaches earned their awards:

Erin Fleming: The defender has been a pain for opposing players and picked up three goals and 18 assists during the 2017-18 state championship season.

Jenna Harrison: The Canadian-native racked up nine goals and 31 assists this year, plus the lone goal in the Division 2 championship.

Andrew Scherrer: The senior took the 50 freestyle title at the Division 1 state meet and was a member of the state-champion 200 freestyle relay team.

Abby Comella: Only a sophomore, the Bay State Conference MVP already hold the school record in the 300, 600, and is a member of the school record-setting 4x4oo team. She won the Division 2 title and All-State title in the 600.

The 4x400 Team: Jojo Kennedy, Comella, Anna Jordahl-Henry and Charlotte Freniere won the All-State title with a time of 3:57.62 and broke the New England meet record with a time of 3:53.27

PT Donato: It only took Donato two seasons to coach the Raiders to a Division 2 title. Wellesley had a record of 33-7-6 record this year.

John Griffith: Griffith coached the girls’ indoor track team to a Bay State Conference title, Division 2 title, and an All-State title.
