WELLESLEY VOLUNTEERS ANNOUNCES VOLUNTEER FAIR ON MARCH 17, 2013
Wellesley Volunteers today announced the second Wellesley Volunteer Fair. Co-sponsored by the Wellesley Free Library, the Volunteer Fair will take place on Sunday, March 17th from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Wellesley Free Library at 530 Washington Street. The Volunteer Fair will be organized in a manner similar to a job fair, with multiple municipal and non-profit organizations attending. Interested volunteers will be able to meet with these organizations and learn more about the volunteer opportunities that are available. The first Volunteer Fair, held in October of 2012 drew more than 20 different organizations and over 100 interested volunteers.

“Wellesley has a diverse group of organizations, both municipal and non-profit that utilize volunteers. From serving meals to the elderly to helping preserve the environment to teaching English to recent immigrants, there are opportunities to volunteer for nearly every age and every interest. Opportunities range from one-day, event-based roles to ongoing, longer-term volunteer positions. The Volunteer Fair is a great place to learn more about all the amazing work being done by local organizations and to find a meaningful way to give back,” said Megan Burns, Marketing Coordinator for Wellesley Volunteers.
Organizations currently scheduled to participate in the Fair include: Wellesley Friendly Aid, Neighbor Brigade, the Fund for Wellesley, Wellesley ESL, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley Youth Commission,Wellesley Council on Aging, Springwell, SPIN (Stray Pets in Need), Samariteens, Wellesley Media Corporation, Sustainable Wellesley, Foundation for MetroWest ,Wellesley Players, Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley Community Children’s Center, SOAR 55, Friends of Recycling and Dive Heart/DiveBuddies. There are still a few slots open for Wellesley-based non-profit or municipal organizations.Interested organizations should contact Megan Burns at wellesleyvolunteers@gmail.com or at 781-237-1230.

About Wellesley Volunteers
Wellesley Volunteers is an initiativedesigned to bring together Wellesley residents interested in volunteering with Wellesley charitable andother nonprofit organizations or municipal departments and agencies that need volunteers. By utilizingan external website, Wellesley Volunteers will enable these groups to publicize their requirements forvolunteers and will provide these individuals with a central source at which to find meaningful volunteeropportunities. Wellesley Volunteers was created by a grant from the Fund for Wellesley to promotevolunteerism in the town of Wellesley. The grant, prepared by the Wellesley Volunteers Task Force, isbeing administered by Wellesley Friendly Aid.
