Award-Winning Wellesley Restaurant Closing

Blue Ginger will shut down after nearly 20 years in business.

WELLESLEY, MA – Award-winning Wellesley restaurant Blue Ginger will close in June, according to the Boston Globe's Devra First. Chef Ming Tsai's Washington Street eatery first opened in 1998 and was highly touted by critics over its 19-year run.

The restaurant will officially close at the end of business hours on June 3; Tsai told First the decision to close coincides with the end of its current lease. Tsai will focus next on a fast-casual stir-fry concept called ChowStirs, according to the Globe.

The concept will open in early 2018 and help raise money for Family Reach, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to families of children with cancer. Tsai will also host a yard sale of his Blue Ginger inventory on June 4 and donate the proceeds to Family Reach.
