Citizen Petition About Fur Left On Day 3 Of Wellesley Special TM

There were 30 Articles on the Warrant and just one is left as Wellesley approaches the third day of Special Town Meeting.

WELLESLEY, MA — Wellesley will move into Day 3 of its Special Town Meeting on Wednesday night. The only thing left on the Warrant is a citizens petition to ban the sale of fur products in Wellesley.

Under the suggested fur ban, a penalty of $300 per fur would be applied to those in violation. Exceptions under the bylaw would include a used fur from a private party, nonprofit or secondhand store. Exceptions also include religious or tribal furs and furs authorized by the state.

Zoning and general bylaw changes were approved during night two of Special Town Meeting, including renaming the Board of Selectmen to Select Board. Night two wrapped up around 10:30 p.m.
