Dog Rescued In Wellesley From Frigid Charles River

'Popeye' the pup may be strong, but he has Wellesley and Dover first responders to thank for pulling him out of the icy Charles River water.

WELLESLEY, MA — A Wellesley dog is recovering after it was rescued from the icy Charles River water in Wellesley on Tuesday.

Popeye the pup has Wellesley and Dover first responders to thank for his rescue. Wellesley firefighters received a call about a dog in need of an ice rescue early on Tuesday afternoon and made their way out into the cold water to bring him in.

Wellesley crews worked with Dover Fire and Police at Elm Bank.
