WELLESLEY, MA — Police said they anticipate a lengthy closure on Washington Street — Route 16 — at the Natick line after a van crashed into a utility pole early Tuesday morning.

At around 7:40 a.m., the road was still closed as crews cleaned up the pole and hazardous chemicals from a transformer, Wellesley police said in a tweet. Photos from the scene show wires on the street.

Access to Elm Bank for the morning may be affected, according to police.
