Make-Up Artist Nearly Scammed, Stolen Bike: Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

May 14

5:45 p.m. - Officer Dixon spoke with a woman who stated she is a make-up artists and was hired by a potential client for a wedding. They agreed to a fee of $300 for her services and she received a check for $1,950 with a request to cash the check and forward $1,650 to the wedding planner. She became suspicious that it was a scam and did not forward the money. A query of the email addresses used by the client and wedding planner showed they were used for a similar type of scam in the past. The reporting party did not suffer a financial loss.

6:28 p.m. - Officer Griffin was on patrol on Grove Street when he observed a Ford pickup truck and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s registration. The query showed that the registered owner’s license was suspended. Officer Griffin stopped the vehicle and confirmed that the operator, 42-year-old Alberto Suazo Boston, was the registered owner. He was arrested and charged with operating with a suspended license.

May 15

5:15 a.m. - Officer D’Innocenzo was on patrol on Washington Street when he observed Buick sedan and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s registration which showed an active warrant for the registered owner issued by Stoughton District Court for motor vehicle related charges. He stopped the vehicle on Washington Street near Chapel Place and spoke with the operator and registered owner, 29-year-old Aline Cruz of Plymouth. Cruz was arrested on the warrant.

3:10 p.m. - Officer Poirier spoke with a man who stated that his bicycle had been stolen from the bike rack at Wellesley High School. He stated he had locked his bike there on May 5 and it was no longer there when he went to get it. He described the bike as an orange and black Trek valued at $500. There are no suspects.

May 16

9:44 a.m. - Officer Joseph spoke with a woman regarding two rings that she had lost. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
