
Barbara Ann Doherty, 75, of Harwich passed away Nov. 19, 2013.
She was wife of Barnstable County Commissioner William Doherty.
Barbara was born in Somerville and graduated from Howard Seminary in Bridgewater. She married Bill on April 12, 1958 and lived in many places, including Wellesley for 19 years, before moving to Harwich 30 years ago. Barbara worked for Cape Cod Human Services until 2004. She was a member of the Cape Cod Women’s Republican Club, a life member of BC High Mother’s Club, and Past President of Cape Cod & Islands National Alliance of the Mentally Ill.

Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Karen and her husband John Thompson of Bourne, Palm and her husband David Riposa of Groton and Andrew and his wife BJ of Georgia; and her eight grandchildren, Kristina Vernen, Brianna, Amanda and Emily (Riposa), Drew, Ben, Elizabeth, Priscilla (Doherty). She was preceded in death by her children Deborah, James, Joan, Billy and Kenneth Doherty.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, Nov. 25 4 to 7 p.m. at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich Center. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Route 28 West Harwich. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery, Harwich.
