Obituary: Dr. Arnold H. Sloane, WWII Veteran

Obituary from Levine Chapels:

Dr. Arnold H. Sloane, 95, of Wellesley, died Oct. 2, 2013.

For 71 years, he was the husband of Miriam (Fishelson).

"Ari" as he was known to many family members and friends was an accomplished optometrist in Wellesley for 40 years. He deeply connected with his patients and his community. Dr. Sloane graduated from Chelsea High School in 1936 and from the Massachusetts College of Optometry in 1939. During World War II he served honorably as an officer and optometrist in the United States Navy. He was the past president of the Massachusetts Optometric Society, the Wellesley Public Library, the Kiwanis Club, and a founding member of Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley. Dr. Sloane was an avid reader and loved movies, swimming, and singing. 

Mr. Sloane leaves his children Jane and Larry Pellish, Louise Limentani and Larry and Peggy Sloane; his grandchildren Randy, Elyssa, Debra, Kimberly, David, Alexis and Courtney; and his great grandchildren Hallie, Gabe and Eyan. He was preceded in death by his siblings Albert Sloane, Sally Sloane, Nathan Sloane and his surviving wife Anita Sloane, Morris Sloane and his surviving wife Shirley Sloane, Libby and Max Aronofsky and Miriam and Milton Levine.
