John F. Rockett Jr., of Wellesley, died Oct. 9, 2013.
He was husband of the late Anne (Welsh) Rockett.
Mr. Rockett was a scientist and inventor. He attended Tufts University and started his own new products venture, Product Development Corporation in Boston, 1954. Named one of the outstanding young men of greater Boston in 1955, Mr. Rockett made contributions to the fields of agriculture, medical monitoring and bar code scanning. After suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in 1976, Mr. Rockett spent his later years convalescing in the care of his wife Anne and thinking about new ideas and ways to change the world.
Mr. Rockett leaves his children Kathleen Lalley, John F. Rockett III and his friend Lorraine Boudreau, Stephen Rockett all of Hull, Mary Rockett of Wellesley and Meghan Rockett and her ex husband Daniel McMann of Needham; his grandchildren Joscelyn Watson, Lucas Lally, Michael and Lydia McMann; his great grandchildren Miles and Eoin Watson; his siblings Francis Rockett and his wife Barbara of Brookline, Thomas Rockett and his wife Sarah of Greenwich, R.I., Richard Rockett and his wife Donna of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Agnes Bolduc and her husband Richard of Mashpee. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Rockett.
