
Karen E. Douglas, 18, of Newton, formerly of Natick died unexpectedly and was found Oct. 5, 2013.
She was the daughter of Brian V. Douglas of Ashland and Lila A. McCain of Newton.
Karen was a senior at Newton North High School. She previously attended Lilja School in Natick, Country Day School in San Jose, Costa Rica and St. Paul’s School in Wellesley.
Karen was active in many school sports and organizations including the Natick Town Basketball Team, Natick Drama Workshop, Community Rowing, NNHS Rugby Club, Old Grannies Club-club for cross stitching and knitting, which she founded. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, wearing vintage clothing, music and attending concerts.

Karen was a baby sitter in her neighborhood, and was known for her bright smile, caring for others and her love of sunflowers.
In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her sister Sonya Maria Douglas of Newton; her grandmother Dora A. McCain of Bradenton, Fla.; her step-mother Sandy Douglas of Ashland; her step-father Peter Beaman of Newton; her step-brothers and sisters Alyssa L. Perkins, Sarah C. Perkins both of Ashland, Christopher G. Beaman of Cambridge, Peter A. Beaman of Somerville, William G. Beaman of Los Angeles, Calif.; her aunts and uncles Carmela Simmons, Christian McCain, Alec McCain, Yolanda McCain, Carl Douglas, James Douglas, Susan Demere Diane Romoth; her many cousins; and her numerous friends and classmates. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Parker and Frances Douglas and Edwin McCain.
