Obituary: Vivien Ritcey Whynot

Vivian Ritcey Whynot, 85, passed away Oct. 11, 2013 after a three year fight against ovarian cancer.

Born in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada, she moved to Wellesley upon marriage and relocated to Silver Spring, Md. in 1996. Vivian was wife of the late Arnold Whynot.

Vivian babysat over 40 children during her life and she always treated those children as her own. 

She leaves her children James Whynot, Geoffrey Whynot, Carol Whynot Neill and Donald Whynot; her children-in-law George Neill and Kathleen Whynot; and her grandchildren Elizabeth Whynot, Rachel Whynot, Caitlin (Neill) McGuire, Emily Neill and Spencer Neill.

A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27 11:30 a.m. at the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, 14500 Layhill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20906. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Vivian’s name to Oak Chapel United Methodist Church.
