OUI, Car Wash Damage, And More Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

May 5

12:51 p.m. Officer Kane spoke with a woman regarding fraudulent charges on her Lyft account in October and November of 2017. She stated she attempted to resolve the issue with her bank who referred her to Lyft who denied her fraudulent charge claim. Officer Kane is investigating.

8:30 p.m. - Officer D’Innocenzo was on patrol when he observed a Dodge SUV traveling on Walnut Street without a number plate displayed on the front of the vehicle. He conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration which showed that the registered owner of the vehicle, Richard Kisitu, had a warrant for his arrest issued by Woburn District Court for motor vehicle related offenses. Officer D’Innocenzo stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator and confirmed it was Kisitu, who was placed under arrest.

May 7

10:14 a.m.- Officer Kane was dispatched to the All Town Mobil gas station for a report of vandalism to the car wash that occurred over the weekend. He spoke with an employee who stated on May 5 at 9:20 p.m., a Jeep Wrangler with extended tires on it entered the car wash and caused damage to the car wash due to the tires being too large and the brushes of the car wash getting caught on the tires. The reporting party stated this is the second time the same vehicle has entered the car wash and caused damage. Officer Kane provided the reporting party with the Jeep’s information so an insurance claim for reimbursement for the damages could be filed.

On May 7

6:19 p.m. - Officer Griffin was on patrol on Washington Street near Rice Street when he observed a BMW SUV and conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration which revealed that the registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator and registered owner, Morgan Schaffrath, and asked for her license and registration. The Emergency Communications Center confirmed her license status. She was taken into custody and charged with oeprating with a suspended license.

10:15 p.m. - Officer Dixon spoke with a woman who stated she received a phone call from an unknown man who stated he was calling from the Chinese government and needed information from her to verify that she was not in the United States illegally and that she was not hiding money. The reporting party provided some information and was supposed to call them back at 11 p.m. Officer Dixon waited and when the reporting party called back at 11 p.m. to the number provided and an man answered the phone. Officer Dixon identified himself as a police officer investigating the call at which point the caller hung up the phone and would not answer when called back. Officer Dixon advised the reporting party to notify her bank about the incident and to monitor her accounts for any suspicious activity as well as to speak to her friends and family about the scam so they would not fall prey to it should they receive a similar call.

10:35 p.m. Officer Griffin was on patrol on Central Street near Crest Road when he observed a Toyota SUV stopped in the right turn lane. It appeared that the operator was looking at an electronic device because her head was down and she was not looking at the roadway. He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator, Natalya Loban, and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage, her eyes were red and watery and her speech was slurred. Officer Griffin asked Loban if she was willing to take some reasonable tests of balance and coordination to determine if she could safely operate a motor vehicle. She agreed to perform these tests and based on her performance Officer Griffin made the determination that she was impaired and it would be unsafe for her to continue to operate a motor vehicle. She was taken into custody and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and sending/receiving electronic messages while driving.
