The 45th Annual Wellesley Veterans’ Parade will run from 1 to 3 p.m. The parade begins in Wellesley Hills Square, and moves westward to Wellesley Square along Washington Street, ending at Central and Crest Road.

According to an announcement on the Wellesley Police website, Washington Street will be closed to traffic and parking from 11:45 p.m. The rest of the route will be closed starting at 2:30 p.m. Police expect to reopen the roads around 3 p.m.

During this time, any cars parked on Washington Street will be towed, police warn. There are a number of temporary No Parking signs in the area, according to an e-mail police sent Friday morning.

From 5 p.m. until after dark on Sunday, Hunnewell Field will host a picnic in the park, followed by a concert and fireworks. During the fireworks, there will be a detour on Washington Street from State to Forest Streets.

Keep an eye out for a truck with a globe on it. Reader Michelle Chalmers reminded us on , will be taking donations at the parade from that truck.
