Strangulation, Vandalism: Wellesley Police Log

June 14

5:30 p.m. - Officer Dixon spoke with a woman who works in the Lower Falls area of Washington Street. She stated that she is involved in a civil case regarding a car crash that had occurred a few years ago with a man who works in the same building. She stated she noticed the man standing outside of her office door the other day and it made her uncomfortable. She had consulted with her attorney who advised her to speak to the police about the matter. The man had not made any threats or attempts to speak with the woman. She stated at this time she only wanted the encounter documented and did not wish for us to make contact with the man.

9:45 p.m. - Officer DiCenso spoke to a man at the police station who stated sometime between 6 and 6:30 p.m., he lost his cell phone and wallet. He stated he had been dropped off at his home by a family member and was told by his brother that he left both items on the roof of the vehicle. He looked in the area to see if he could locate either on the street, but did not locate them. He was concerned because his social security card was in his wallet. Officer DiCenso advised to file an identity theft report on the IRS website as a precautionary measure.

June 15

10:11 a.m. - Officer Cunningham spoke with a woman at the police station who stated that her ex-boyfriend had several of her personal items in his apartment and he would not return them to her. Officer Cunningham went to the residence with the woman to speak to her ex-boyfriend at which point he said he did not have any of her property and asked her for the $5,000 she owed him. She claimed she did not owe him any money. Officer Cunningham asked her to describe the personal property. He then placed a phone call to the man who stated he had purchased the items she is claiming belong to the reporting party while they were on vacation and therefore the items belonged to him and not her. She was advised of how she could pursue the matter in small claims court if she wished to do so.

12:30 p.m. - Officer Rosenberg spoke with an employee of the Wellesley Public Schools who stated that two students from the same family had not returned the laptops that had been loaned to them by the school. Officer Cunningham was able to make contact with the parent and advised her that the school department was attempting to make contact with her about the laptops. Officer Cunningham spoke with an employee in the business office of the school department who then called the parent to follow up. After that conversation the parent agreed to return the laptops to the school department.

June 16

10:45 a.m. - Officer Joseph spoke with a woman at the police station regarding a purse that was possibly stolen. The woman stated on May 17 she had left her residence for approximately 30 minutes and left the doors unlocked while she was away from the residence. She stated that later in the day she noticed her purse was not where she had left it. She had searched the house to see if she had moved it and could not locate it. She believed someone may have entered the home while she was gone and took her purse. She had cancelled all of the credit cards that were in her purse and just wished to document the incident should any similar issues occur of if any identity theft issues occurred.

11:30 a.m. - Officer DiCenso was dispatched to the lifeguard tower at Morses Pond for a report of vandalism that occurred overnight. The reporting party stated that he found the remnants of a small log fire on one of the docks which charred and damaged the dock, additionally there were several empty beer cans and bottles strewn about and a trash barrel had been thrown into the pond. Officer DiCenso indicated the security checks of the pond during the evening hours would be increased.

1:15 p.m. - Officer Joseph was dispatched to Sabrina Farm Road for a report of an assault and battery after a road rage incident. The reporting man stated that two men on motorcycles did not stop at the intersection of Grove Street at Dover Road, that the motorcycles then drove around him, yelled at him and made obscene gestures at him. He observed the men turn onto Sabrina Farm Road and followed them to speak to them about not yielding. He stated one of the men struck him with his motorcycle helmet and then began choking him while the other one hit and kicked him. He suffered several facial injuries and bruised ribs. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and later released. Officer Joseph also spoke with the other two men involved, a 21-year-old from Wellesley and a 26-year-old, also from Wellesley. Both men stated that the reporting man cut them off at the intersection of Grove Street and Dover Road and then followed them onto Sabrina Farm Road and began yelling at them. They both indicated that one of them struck him in the head with the motorcycle helmet and stated he did this because the reporting man had come at him in an aggressive manner. After he head butted with the motorcycle helmet the reporting man attempted to hit him at which point he placed him in a head lock and the other male party punched him. They indicated this was in self defense because he attempted to strike one of them after. Both were taken into custody, charged with assault and battery on a person older than 60 or disabled with an injury and strangulation or suffocation, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on $300 bail.
