Town Meeting Night 5 Results: Hills Branch Library, VW Lease Approved

Night five of Wellesley's annual Town Meeting brings discussion on articles 19 through 27 to a close.

 

Town Meeting made progress on getting through the Town Meeting Warrant's 45 total articles last night.

  • Article 19 - Community Preservation Fund. Unanimously approved.
  • Article 20 - Appropriation of $252,250 to repair the Hills Branch Library chimney section. Approved by majority vote. 
  • Article 21 - Library Branch Maintenance. No action needed.
  • Article 22 - Cochituate Aqueduct land aquisition - Approved.
  • Article 23 - Accept or abandon electric easements - Unanimously approved.
  • Article 24 - Water and sewer rehabilitation funds - Unanimously approved.
  • Article 25 - Accept gift of three parcels of land on Fuller Brook, near the park land. Unanimously approved.
  • Article 26 - Linden Square lease approval. Approved by majority vote.

Article 27, which relates to cluster zoning on two to four parcels was held open after a lengthy discussion which ended with a proposed amendment from Town Meeting Member David Himmelberger. The Zoning Board will take some time to consider it, and return with a decision tonight.

There are a total of 45 articles on the warrant. However, of the remaining articles, numbers 36 through 44 do not require a motion.

Town meeting will pick up again tonight at the Wellesley High School's Katherine Babson auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting will also be broadcast on The Wellesley Channel, and streaming on their website.
