Find Out Where to Volunteer in Wellesley this Sunday

If you are looking to volunteer somewhere in Wellesley, but aren't sure where to start, then the Library might be a good place. Say, Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m.

The Spring 2013 Wellesley Volunteer Fair is slated for this weekend, and will bring a number of non-profit and municipal organizations to one place for residents to look for volunteering options.

Last year's fair brought over 100 people, and 20 organizations together, according to a press release sent out by Wellesley Volunteers.

“Wellesley has a diverse group of organizations, both municipal and non-profit that utilize volunteers. From serving meals to the elderly to helping preserve the environment to teaching English to recent immigrants, there are opportunities to volunteer for nearly every age and every interest," said . 

Thus far, organizations coming to the fair include: Wellesley Friendly Aid, Neighbor Brigade, the Fund for Wellesley, Wellesley ESL, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley Youth Commission,Wellesley Council on Aging, Springwell, SPIN (Stray Pets in Need), Samariteens, Wellesley Media Corporation, Sustainable Wellesley, Foundation for MetroWest ,Wellesley Players, Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley Community Children’s Center, SOAR 55, Friends of Recycling and Dive Heart/DiveBuddies.

Burns added, "Opportunities range from one-day, event-based roles to ongoing, longer-term volunteer positions. The Volunteer Fair is a great place to learn more about all the amazing work being done by local organizations and to find a meaningful way to give back.”
