Warrant Arrest, Rental Scam: Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

July 18

5:50 a.m. - Officer Knapp was dispatched to Indian Springs Way for a report of a tree down on a vehicle. A large tree limb had fallen during a storm and caused significant damage to the front end and both the front passengers and driver side of the vehicle. Officer Knapp requested that the Emergency Communications Department notify the Park and Tree Department to have the tree limb removed.

3:25 p.m. - Officer Kane spoke with woman at the police station who stated she had answered an ad on Craigslist for an apartment rental in the Chicago area and became aware it was a scam after paying for the rental. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.

7:47 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi was on patrol on Worcester Street near Washington Street when he observed a Mercedes sedan and conducted a random query of the vehicle’s registration which showed that the registered owner had outstanding warrant issued by Worcester District Court for motor vehicle related charges. He stopped the vehicle and made contact with the operator and owner, Tamika Gayle. The Wellesley Emergency Communications Center confirmed the warrant issued by Worcester District Court as well as warrants in Georgia and Arizona. Additionally, Ms. Gayle’s license was suspended. She was taken into custody, transported to the station booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on $300 bail.

12:04 p.m. - Officer K. Poirier spoke to a person at the police station regarding a fraud incident. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.


July 21

10:30 a.m. - Officer Wagner spoke to a woman on Crest Road who stated she had located an envelope with cash and an ID on the sidewalk on Central Street. The envelope contained $28 in cash. The Wellesley Emergency Communications Center attempted to contact the individual listed on the ID who resides in Wellesley.
