Wellesley Bank Adding Fourth Location: Boston

Local bank is adding a downtown branch after over a century in business.

Wellesley Bank has three locations in town, and is looking to add a fourth--just, not in Wellesley.

Boston Business Journal (BBJ) reports that, for the first time in over 102 years of business, the bank is looking outside of Wellesley to set up a branch. They are looking to Boston's Financial District. They are looking at a 3,000 square-foot space in One Federal Street.

“Competition is fierce,” Bank CEO Thomas Fontaine told BBJ. “Just in Wellesley there are 21 branches. It’s no different in Boston. We’re used to the competition.”

The bank should open in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to the Boston Herald.
