Wellesley Native Heading to WNBA?

Blake Dietrick led the Princeton Tigers to the school's first-ever bracket appearance.

After taking the Princeton Tigers in New Jersey to the NCAA tournament this year, Blake Dietrick, 2011 Wellesley High School graduate, will go to a WNBA training camp in hopes of making the leap to the big stage.

Dietrick’s Tigers won the school’s first-ever NCAA tournament game before losing to No. 1 seed Maryland in the round of 32. Princeton went undefeated during the regular season and left tournament grounds with a final season record of 31-1.

The 5-foot-10 point guard was accustomed to juggling responsibilities as a member of both a nationally ranked lacrosse and basketball team, but devoted her senior year to hoops.

It seems like she made the right decision as now Dietrick has the opportunity to play in the WNBA.

Originally hoping to make some noise in the 2015 WNBA Draft, Dietrick went undrafted through three rounds of the April 16 event. She was later invited to attend the Washington Mystics’ training camp by the team’s head coach Courtney Banghart. The camp will commence in May.
