Suspended Query

April 20, Officer Lindelof patrolled the area of Church and Abbott Streets, a bit before 6 p.m. After querying a passing Nissan sedan, he learned the vehicle had a suspended registration.

The car pulled over at a Rice Street, and the officer requested the driver's license and registration. The driver, identified as Bryan Barillas of East Boston, age 20, said he did not have a valid Mass. license. A query determined that his license had been suspended.

He was transported to the station and booked, later released on personal recognizance.

Calling AAA...Under the influence

A Wellesley man was arrested in Newton on April 26 after he allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol and attempted to call AAA after losing a wheel on his vehicle.

According to Newton Police reports, officers were dispatched at 9:11 p.m. Friday, April 26, after AAA called the police to report an intoxicated driver attempting to have his tire changed.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man in the driver's seat of a Mercury Marquis, which was still running. Police said the man smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and glassy/bloodshot eyes.

Due to the "reckless driving, accident, failure to realize his wheel was no longer connected to his vehicle, odor of alcohol, glassy/bloodshot eyes and slurred speech," the driver was placed under arrest, police said.
