Wellesley Sports Center Ground Breaking Soon, Really

After years of discussion, the groundbreaking for the Wellesley Sports Center is about to happen.

WELLESLEY, MA — Remember how for years the town has been talking about bringing a new recreation center to town? Well, the ground breaking is finally about to happen. Dec. 15 the Edge Sports Group will officially break ground on the project.

"This groundbreaking is three years in the making for us, and much longer for the town," said Brian DeVellis, president of Edge Sports Group. "We are mindful of the trust the town has in us and look forward to working with the town, high school and youth programs for the next 50 years.”

Upon completion, the 130,000 square foot rec center will include two NHL sized ice hockey rinks, two indoor pools (one competition and one teaching), an indoor synthetic turf field, along with support spaces such as strength and conditioning space, physical therapy, food concessions and pro-shop.
