Wellesley Sports Center Opening Delayed By National Grid Lockout
The sports center tried getting gas services installed under an emergency measure, but elected not to due to Merrimack Valley's gas scare.

WELLESLEY, MA — The National Grid Lockout has delayed gas service installation at the Wellesley Sports Center, so people will have to wait a bit longer before the building officially opens.
National Grid's lockout of more than 1,200 union gas workers has been going on for four months now. The timing of the building's construction has had an impact on the building opening, said Crystal Woody, who represents the Wellesley Sports Center with the public relations firm Carlton PR & Marketing.
Woody told the Wellesley Townsman the building needs natural gas for heating, hot war, and for operating dehumidifiers over the ice rinks. The sports center also explored getting gas services installed under an emergency measure, but elected not to because of the October gas explosions in Merrimack Valley.
