5 Injured In Wrong Way Crash On Route 9 In Westborough

Westborough police say two people are suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A wrong-way crash on Route 9 in Westborough has left five people injured with two suffering from life-threatening injuries over the weekend.

Westborough Police and Fire Departments responded to a two-car crash on Route 9 at Otis Street just after 9:50 p.m.

One of the five injured was so heavily trapped inside the crashed car firefighters had to use hydraulic tools to free them.

All occupants of both cars were transported to hospitals.

Investigators say one of the cars was traveling the wrong way when it collided with a vehicle heading west.

The Westborough Fire Department said that Route 9 at Otis Street was closed for three hours following the crash and Westborough Public Works were called to contain an oil spill.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
