Outdoor Dining, Store Updates Funded By Westborough EDC Grants

A new round of grants from the Westborough EDC will boost six town businesses.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Economic Development Committee has funded projects at six local businesses to help pay for new outdoor dining areas, renovations and more.

The over $14,600 in grants approved this week come from the EDC's Business Assistance Grant Program, which is aimed at stimulated existing businesses and vacant commercial space.

Town Meeting appropriates about $60,000 each year for the grant program. Here are the businesses and projects that got funding this week:

  • Coffee and Pi, 276 Turnpike Road — $1,500 to purchase equipment to grow and expand new coffee shop (new coffee grinder, freezer, espresso machine).
  • Harman’s Wine and Spirits, 2 Connector Road — $1,500 to pay for new signage associated with a rebrand.
  • Honey Dew Donuts, 2 Connector Road — $1,633.71 to purchase tables, chairs, umbrellas and flowers for outdoor seating
  • Learning Express Toys, 50 East Main St. — $5,000 to remove old carpet and install a new laminate floor.
  • MaxCricketSports, 69 Milk St. — $2,500 to buy additional merchandising equipment like shelving and displays, POS system, printer.
  • Swanski’s Bakeshop, 72 East Main St. — $2,500 purchase tables, chairs, umbrellas for outdoor seating.
