Two Men Rescued In Westborough After Boat Hits Stump

Firefighters from Westborough and Northborough responded to the George H. Nichols reservoir for the rescue.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Local firefighters rescued two men Tuesday whose boat capsized after hitting a stump in the George H. Nichols reservoir.

Westborough and Northborough firefighters responded to the reservoir near Whippletree Lane near 2 p.m. Firefighters used two boats to reach the men, who were about 500 yards offshore, the Westborough department reported.

The men, who were not wearing life jackets, were evaluated by paramedics at the scene.

On top of local firefighters, Westborough police used the department drone during the rescue, and firefighters from Hopkinton and Shrewsbury covered other calls during the event.
