Westborough PD, Civilian Rescue Injured Owl

The owl was hit by a car and scooped up by a good Samaritan and escorted to a local veterinarian.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Sunday night incident was anything but a hoot for one Westborough owl who is lucky to be alive thanks to a passerby and a Westborough police officer.

The owl was hit by a car on Sunday night on Upton Road when a man saw the incident happen. Police said the man saw the owl stumble around, clearly hurt, and scooped it up into his car to prevent it from getting any more injuries.

With the owl in his car, he started driving and noticed Wesborough Police Officer Ethier on traffic patrol along the road. The man asked the officer for help getting the owl to a vet and Animal Control Officer MacKendrick was called to help. ACO MacKendrick and Officer Ethier escorted the citizen and the owl to Tufts where it is recovering.
